What We Do

TI-USA works at home and abroad to combat corruption and promote transparency and integrity in government, business and development.  Our initiatives help counter the devastating consequences of corruption on poverty, ethical business, development and humanitarian assistance, the environment, democracy and human rights.

Promoting Government Accountability

TI-USA promotes government accountability through comprehensive legal and regulatory transparency and opportunities for public participation; criminalization of bribery and extortion; regulation of political influence; and other measures in the U.S. and abroad.

Strengthening Private Sector Integrity

TI-USA strengthens private sector integrity through the development of standards and tools, global industry-sector initiatives and collaboration with major U.S. and international business organizations.   We encourage enforcement of prohibitions on transnational bribery and honest business practices in public contracting.

TI-USA promotes effective development by heightening attention of multilateral development banks, U.S. bilateral aid agencies and private donors to comprehensive transparency and corruption-risk management in their projects and in countries where they operate.

How We Do It

Coalition building: TI-USA mobilizes action, working in cooperation with the U.S. Government, private sector, professional associations, international organizations, media and other non-profit organizations.


Global partnerships: TI-USA cooperates with the TI Secretariat in Berlin and the network of TI national chapters in over 90 countries with in-depth knowledge and local approaches to reform.


US Leadership: Through its Board of Directors, Advisory Council and an extensive network of volunteer professionals, corporate supporters, NGO colleagues, and leading academics, TI-USA:

  • Strives for benchmark performance in the U.S. public and private sectors;
  • Encourages the U.S. Government to continue its leadership role in battling corruption through high-level international engagement, promoting consistent laws and standards, and providing technical assistance and the financial resources needed to achieve practical results, and
  • Provides substantive expertise and practical guidance to the U.S. Government, international institutions and the private sector.
